It's summertime! It's the off-season! It's quiet, it's fruitful and the water is warm! School is ending and everyone is playing more. I think this time of year people are in the best moods. Summer brings a sense of being a kid, being carefree and taking afternoons off.

I returned a month ago from a fabulous trip home to West Virginia. Going in late April was awesome: the springs were starting to run, the leaves were popping and everything was so green! Of course there wasn't enough time to do everything I'd like to have done, but I did score 11 pairs of shoes during my stay!

Last week I found out that I made the cut to be in this year's New York City Marathon in November! I can't wait! I think i could have run up there the morning I realized it, I was so excited. One of my 2007 goals. Also earlier last week I launched my new site, ChelseaRocks.info. Both a portal for keeping in touch with friends and family as well as a site to practice my web development skills, if you check it out you'll see new news, photos and features often. This week I'm working on adding a blog for your comments and a photo gallery so you don't forget my face.

Enjoy the dawn of summer!

Finding True Love

True love: that practically ominous idea that guides us or eludes us from the time we're preteens until we either find it or get over it. We go about looking for a partner in hopes of finding "the one," the person who matches you in all the ways that excite and inspire you. For those that find that someone, you hear their stories of bliss and satisfaction that carries over for decades. For those that don't, they often harbor scorn and bitterness and, eventually, neutrality. They stop "looking for that special something" and assume that it's just a fairy tale for those who insist on playing the game.

But, after a recent conversation with a great friend of mine, I started to look at "true love" another way: the quest for "true love" is what drives the majority of us through our whole lives--if we're lucky. I think that, if you ask me what my main goal in life is, has been and most likely will be...? It's to always live and act with passion. To have passion, or true love, for what I'm doing, where I'm at or who I'm with--what more do I want than that? If I'm not going through my day and my life with passion, then what the hell am I doing anything for? And sadly, I think that most aren't lucky enough to have the blessing of doing what they love for a living--or even KNOW what they love to do for a living. So that drives my energy for learning, for working endlessly towards these goals I set for myself...and that drives my thirst for romantic relationships as much as my career, my athletic goals and my life in general.

To go further, if something starts to feel stagnant or routine or comfortable, then I start getting antsy. Where's the passion and excitement in being comfortable and routine? I am always looking, then, for "true love." And yet, one of my fears is that I'll NEVER be satisfied. But my counterpoint is that, maybe--to a point--that's ok. Because that's what keeps me going, that's what fuels my drive.

So as idealistic as true love may be, it can be used as fuel for your fire in many other areas of your life beyond romance. Or, it could be used as fuel especially in all the other areas of your life. And if you aren't finding that giddy energy in areas of your life, maybe you should keep looking and join that quest. Even if you don't take action, simply thinking about what it would take to really excite you could beenough to generate positive energy. Because then you have an idea of what you could fall in love with. Having an idea is half the battle. All you need from there is a plan of action--and then you can make changes. Changing pushes the limits of what's comfortable, and going outside of the comfort zone is where life begins. It can be done over decades or over the course of a day.

Hmm. Love, Chelsea.
